Welcome to The Carrie Hill Show!
Carrie Hill is a beautiful, twenty two year old actress orignally from Texas, but moved to New York when she was eleven. Her parents were both hard working people, her father a gardner and her mother a waitress. Carrie is now well known for her role in Arrendale Heights, a soap that has been a huge success all over the world. However, until now no one knew about her everyday life. Carrie was agreed to be interviewed for our show, so people will know the real her, the person behind Eileen Townsend.
We caught up with Carrie at her home in a small town called South Parks, near the set of Arrendale Heights. She was nervous at first, so we thought we would ask about her home to easy us into this documentary.
"My house? Oh, its a Victorian manor house. I am in love with this period and the homes that were built at this time are outstanding. This place is my dream home, I feel in love with it as soon as I drove past it. I love the fact it has so much land too, its beautiful and I am proud to own it."
It was clear that she had spent a lot of time working on the house, and it's paied off.
"Well, I guess you should come inside, I have set up some snack's and a cool pitcher of iced tea."
Inside her beautiful home, she took is into her living room. "So Carrie, you have become a star with the success of Arrendale Heights, but before the show took off, you were some what popular, tell us about your career up to Arrendale."
"Well, when I was thirteen I got a job working on a small show called Our Life, it wasn't a huge hit but it lasted for two series. Then, when I was sixteen I got a part in a movie with Angelina Jolie. It was a thriller, and I enjoyed working with her, and although my part was only small, it was my first break. I had a few TV roles, on shows like Days Of Our Lives and some small roles on comedy shows like Friends, The King Of Queens and Everybody Loves Raymond. It was weird going from a film to small parts, but it was worth it and I enjoyed every moment on all those shows. I then took a year off to travel a little, and went around Europe, to Italy, France, Spain and the UK. I was on my way back home when I got a call from another film director who wanted me to be in a movie, and I jumped at the chance. It was my first staring role, and I was excited.
So I got the script and loved it. There wern't many well known people, mostly up and coming stars. It was fun, and the movie did well. After this, it seemed like work was getting slower, I had a few more walk on parts on shows, and then one day I was called by Arrendale Heights and the rest is history, I got the job!"
"So you had a career before Arrendale, which seems to have been a successful one for such a young actress."
"I was lucky, and I have wonderful people helping me everyday."
"So on Arrendale Heights, you play Eileen Townsend. Tell us about her."
"I love playing her, she is so sweet and such a nice person on the show. Eileen is a person who is kind, caring and loving but she does have some bad luck. Her mother died, her boyfriend who she nearly married turned out to be a murderer, so you can see her life isnt easy. She also has these dreams, which she used to make her choices I feel, at least thats how I see it, but maybe others wouldn't agree. At the moment she is having some luck, with Lawrence Arrendale. I don't know whats is store for Eileen,  but I hope that he plays a role."
Family is very important to Carrie, and nothing shows this like her father. He lives with her, which for a young woman is a big sacrifice. He tell us about her childhood.
"When Carrie was growing up, she was a shy girl. We lived in Texas until she was eleven and then I got a new job in New York. Texas was a great place to live, in our small town Carrie had a number of friends that she used to play with. We were not rich, we lived in a small two bedroom house, it wasn't anything fancy, just the basic things we needed. It was a nice house though, and Carrie was very happy there. However, when we moved to New York we got to rent a small house on the grounds of a rich family I worked for, they were very kind family and we got on well. Carrie was thirteen when she started acting, and to be honest I though she wouldn't make it, not that she didn't have talent, she had it in truck loads, but she was just so shy. However on her first day I took her to the set, parked my battered blue truck next to a sports car, and walked her into the building where they were filming. She got on the set, and started to act. I was stunned. This shy
girl from Texas came into her own, and I was so proud of her. However a year later her mother died, and it hit her hard. She stopped going to auditions for two years. She got over it though, and pulled herself together enough to get a role in that film, I don't remember the name of it though. I still remember her running into the house and yelling she had a role with, whats her name, Angelina something, and I was so happy that I jumped up and knocked over my dinner, I think that stain is still there actually, I remember we could never get it out. Anyway, since then she has become a star and I am so proud of her. Arrendale Heights is a huge role for her, as it's the first role she loved, the others were good too, she enjoyed them, but Eileen is someone who she can play with all her heart and she always tells me that it's the role of a lifetime. I think she loves to act on TV more than film, it's less work and you get to spend time with your friends and family, where as when she does films she is never here. I think that she will be a huge success in the future, she is talented and she knows how to act, better than most of the young ones these days."
It was clear to me that her father was a proud man, who loved his daughter with all his heart. As we were about to talk to him about his life and the role he played in her upbringing, Carrie yelled over to us, and told us she was leaving for work, so we had to cut the talk short and jump into her car.
We got into her jeep, and I decided to ask her about her father.
"My dad? He is great, and he supports me. I mean, all my life he was there for me, looking after me after my mum died. Even before that, he was always at every school event I took part in. He is a great father, and a great man. I am so proud of him, he came from nothing and when he retired he owned his own gardening firm. Everytime I am in doubt about a role or a scene in my latest project, I ask him and he guides me, he is more than my father, he is my best friend. I can't believe that after all he went through, he is still strong enough to help me when I am down, or going though something."
"So after you got your first paycheck from Our Life, what was the first thing you bought?"
She thought for a moment, and answered. "An Iron Maiden album." She laughed. "I know I don't seem like a rocker, but when I was younger I was a total hardcore Rock fan. After my mum died, I seemed to become more gothic, I think I was reflecting my sadness in my appearance. I think after I got the album, I bought my parents a coffee
maker, because they always needed coffee to stay awake after a long day at work. But I remember the album, I listened to that thing for hours, I think I still have it somewhere. I'm not so hardcore now, I found Jazz when I eighteen, and I am in love with that right now. I also like Country music."
"Do you still rock-out?" I asked, and we both laughed.
"Actually, I do. I do like Rock music still, but I found other types of music as I got older. I don't think I could ever forget my teenage years though, apart from my mothers death, it was a good time for me. Before she died I was so happy, and after I dealt with her death, it became a great time again. I guess I am diverce with music taste, I like anything that has talent behind it. A real song to me is something the artist had put a lot of time into, and only released it when they were content with it, I love songs that show this. The mainstream music isn't my thing though, it all sounds the same to my ears." She was laughing again, it was a sweet laugh, and a real one from deep inside her, I got the impression she was not at all fake, from when I first met her, she gave off tha vibe. "But I am not saying the singers are not talented, they are, but it's not for me I guess."
"I guess most people would think of you as a person who wouldn't like that style of music, and I guess thats why people don't know the real Carrie. I know that since I have met you, my views have changed, not that they were bad views, its just you are more complex that peopel think I feel."
"I know what you mean, people see the colorful clothes and the smiles and they think I am this princess, but there is more to me I think. I mean, it's not just music, it's more than that I think. People see me as another actress, they don't really know anything about me. I am not just a dizzy princess, and when people think it, it does get to me sometimes. I don't play on my looks for roles, I just act and if people like it, great, if not I wont do anything to get ahead. I believe people should use their talents and not their looks."
"I agree. You are not shallow, you are down to earth. People will see this when they see this show I feel, and maybe it will give some young girls out there something more to strive for, use talents and not looks."
"I hope so, I would love to see girls out there using talent more, some are so gifted and it's a shame to see them falling into the wrong things."
"So we know about your personal life, the music you like and the person you are. What about the people you work with?"
"They are all great, it's an amazing cast. I am good friends with most of them."
"Can you name a few?"
"Well, Nathaniel Heath Todd, who plays Lawrence Arrendale, is great. We hang out a lot on set and after work. He and his wife are amazing. Andy Hapney who plays Hector is also a close friend who I love spending time with on set. Last week I actually had Nathaniel, Andy, Renee Grahm who is Reese Boroughs, and Catherine West who is Vanessa Barrett over for dinner. They are all great people."
"Do you dislike anyone?"
"No. Some people are not as close to me, Zaida Burrego who plays Lucy is, orignal, and we don't really hang out a lot. We do chat on set, but she is a private person. She seems to keep to herself. Other than that, we are all close. We all hang out after work and we have all hosted dinner parties with all the cast in attendence, well apart from Zaida."
"It's weird that best friends in the soap are nothing like that in the real world."
"Well, it is only a soap after all, and Zaida ia a private person. I don't think best friends on set can be best friends in real life, because a soap is false, it's not about real life. Anything can happen in a soap, and it's not a reflection of the real world. When you are acting, you are playing your part the best you can, and you are trying to get everything perfect. In real life, it's not like that. Zaida and I don't try and be perfect friends, it doesn't work like that. I believe that if you are meant to be friends, it will just develop, but if you have to force a friendship, it's not real. Why try and be something your not because people think that you should reflect your work. I know that people say to me, you and Zaida must be so close, but I always tell them that it's acting and we are not who we play. Is this making sence?" she laughed.
"I understand what you mean."
"The other thing about me, I tend to drift into a speech sometimes, and I start drifting from the point."
I couldn't help but smile. "Don't worry about it. I know what you are saying, but it's nice to see that you do what we all do. I think we all start on a point, down a road, and get lost along away. Or, maybe we just want to say something but can't find a simple way to say it."
"Well, I hope that people see that I am just a human, and nothing more."
"They will."
We arrived on the set, after Carrie took a wrong turn and ended up in the next town over. We couldn't help but appologize as it was us talking that got her lost. We were an hour late, but the directors understood.
"Okay, this is the set of my house, the Townsend house. Sorry about leaving you alone for a while, I had to change. We are filming Part 17 today, I am about to go on a date with Lawrence. It shouldn't take long, unless I mess up my lines. I am nervous today, with you here too."
"Take you time, we will watch you work. I see Zaida behind you."
"Hey Zaida, how are you?"
"Carrie. I am ok, thank you for asking, yourself?"
"I am good, this is Three Rock Films, they are filming a documentary about me."
"They are? Wow, did you tell them about my mission?"
"Yes, I did." We knew Carrie was lying.
"Good, I will see you after filming. I need to find a dark room."
"Okay Zaida, bye. Sometimes she can be weird like this, I'm not sure I understand her, but sometimes she is normal and a very nice woman."
"She seems, different."
"She is."
"I'm sorry I couldn't get a better table."
"What's wrong with it?"
"Maybe someday I will be influential enough to get a table away from the kitchen."
"That's fine."

We watched Carrie and Nathaniel do a restaurant scene. Both were acting at their best, and after the scene the writer and director told them as much. Carrie came over to us after talking to Nathaniel. "That didn't take long."
"No, it was a great scene Carrie."
"Thank you. Now I am done for the day, I will be going home after I changed."
We returned to her home and met Mark, her boyfriend. "How long have you two been together?"
"Three years. We met on set actually, Mark was working as a set designer and we went out a few times, and have been together since."
"That's romantic."
"Yes, I saw him painting some doors in the Townsend home and I just loved his long hair, brown eyes and smile, and I knew I had to talk to him."
"What about you Mark, what attracted you to Carrie."
"Her smile, laugh and the fact she was so happy and bright. She is a great person, and she makes people around her so much happier."
"That's sweet. You two make a good couple. That are your plans?"
"Well, Mark and I are going to be living together soon. I asked him a week ago, and he agreed. He can't move in right away because he is designing an apartment in his building, and he needs to be near it to get the work done on time. So soon he will be here with me."
It was clear that Carrie and Mark were in love. A phone call from his apartment meant that Mark couldn't talk for longer, but he told us that he was going to come back later on. Carrie also had to finish a chore, so we found her father in the garden. "Would you tell us some more about Carrie's mother?"
"Sure thing. She was a sweet women, lovely to talk to, be with. She was so kind to everyone, a role model for Carrie. Her name was Mary, and she was just the most perfect women you could meet. I remember I would tell her how beautiful she was, and she would say 'Paul, you are always saying that to me, your going to give me a big head one of these days'. I would reply 'Your head could never be big, because everything you store inside there is used to show others love'. It sounds cheesy I know, but that's how she was. I just hope Carrie knows that she is still watching over her, and will be with her forever."
"Do you think Carrie will turn out like your wife when she has her own children?"
"Of course, I see it in her eyes. She has so much love to give."
We found Carrie in her gym, working out for the show.
"Do you need to keep in shape for the show?"
"Yes, I do anyway. I wish I was one of those women who could eat anything and not put on a pound, but sadly I do and I need to keep training to lose the extra weight."
"It must be tough to keep looking this slim for the show, how do you do it?"
"Well, it is tough. I just work out everyday, and it stay's off. I sometimes eat too much on vacations and then have to work even harder to become thin again. I don't worry about my weight, I eat like normal people do, but I like to keep Eileen slim and I also love working out."
"That's good to hear."
"I am healthy, and I love being able to run around the park, and take long walks. I should get showered. I must stink."
We have spent the whole day with Carrie. We now thought it was time to get everyone together and talk about what's next for her.
"Well, as for my personal life, I am moving in with Mark, and my dad will be building his own little house in the grounds of this place, so he gets his own space. I don't know what my life will be like from this point on, but I hope it's happy and filled with people I love. My work, well I hope that Arrendale Heights lasts for many years yet, I love working with these people and the soap is amazing."
"Actually I need to add something." Mark said out of the blue. "Carrie, I love you will all my heart, and I didn't actually plan to do this now, but it seems right. Will you marry me?"
We were all shocked by this, and all the crew were waiting for her reply.
"Wow Mark, yes. I will."
The ring was beautiful, and Paul was hugging is future son-in-law which Carrie cried with happiness.
"We are happy for you Carrie. We wish you all the best."
"Thank you, I am so happy. I am so glad you spent this time with my over the past day. I enjoyed it, and I am so happy that Mark proposed to me with you here, I get to see it over and over now when I record the show." We all laughed. "But really, I want to thank you all for watching this, I hope you learnt something about my life, and see I am just like you all out there."
We left Carrie, Mark and Paul to celebrate her engagement.
It's clear that Carrie Hill was just like you and I, but I couldn't help feel that she was even more that a regular person. The kindness she shows, her views on life and love, and her general possitive outlook makes everyone who talks to her happy. She isn't a better person because she is famous, she is better because she is a kind, caring and giving person who would put others before herself. I know that a lot of people I have met wouldn't do that. It's nice to know that there are people like Carrie out there.

What's in store for her, who knows? But, we hope she will lead a happy life with Mark and her dad. Maybe she will invite us back sometime? Who knows, but we will be watching this women closely, because she is going to be a star!!
We would like to thank Carrie Hill and her family and friends, Arrendale Heights and all the crew.
