A month after she was pushed down her steps, Grace Roundhouse had returned home. Her leg had been badly damaged, and she had torn the ligaments in her knee. Her hip was also damaged, and she was left with a stick that she needed for support. The doctors had told her that with time and physiotherapy she would be able to walk without a stick, however her hip would never fully recover. Grace was angry, angry at her ex-husband for leaving her like this. On that day when she was left at the bottom of the steps, the mailman had found her there, in a pool of her blood. Her life was now different, it was harder that it had been. She needed to move home, as the steps were too difficult for her to climb everyday. She had started looking, and had found an apartment in downtown, with an elevator. She had cried when she thought about the fact she could no longer climb simple steps without being in pain. Her life was changed, and not for the better.
Toffee Waterday and Roz Tillville stood outside their house. The house was coming along faster than they had thought, with the front rooms built.
"I can't believe we have built this place," Roz said, looking at the house.
"I know, I can't believe we set up this business. I just hope it will pay off," Toffee said, thinking about her house and the fact she needed to rebuild it.
"I am sure it will. I had fun this morning," Roz told her, as they had just been for breakfast with a couple who was interested in buying the house after it was ready.
"Yeah, they seemed a nice," Toffee said, not really listening.
"Are you okay?" Roz asked.
Toffee looked at her. "Yeah, I think I am just tired. I have been planning the wedding and I still have so much to do. Plus all this work here," she said.
"Well, take some time away from this place, get the wedding
sorted. I will be able to handle all this work here," Roz told her, hoping she would take some time off so she could get everything ready.
"Thanks. I think I will," Toffee said, smiling at Roz. "Your a great friend."
Roz held her hand. "Go and book churches and pick out finger food," Roz laughed. "I will take care of these builders."
Toffee thanked her, then returned to Wes's house.
Wes was at his computer when she arrived home. As she entered the room, he looked over to her. "How was the breakfast?" he asked as she walked over to the bedroom.
"It was fine. I need to get out of this dress," she told him as she threw it on the bed and slipped into a vest and pants. "What are you up to?" she yelled out from the bedroom.
"I am looking for a honeymoon for us. What do you think about Barbados?" he asked.
Toffee joined him at the computer. "Really? Wow!"
"Well there is a beautiful hotel here, right on the beach. Or, small houses that are in the grounds of this other hotel where you get privacy but can still eat in the hotel and use all their facilities, the houses are still part of the place," he explained.
"One of those houses would be lovely, I think we should book one now, just incase they are snapped up," she suggested.
"Okay, I will sort everything out," he told her as he clicked on the booking form.
"Did you call the church?" Toffee asked as she pulled up a chair next to him.
"Yes, they told me that they are booked up for a long time. The only two openings are a month from now, or in six months," he told her. "It's up to you what you would like, if you think a month is too soon then we can wait."
"I don't know, can we plan everything in a month?" she asked.
"Yeah, I will take some time off work and we can both get everything sorted out. We need to let the priest know soon, because this date is only available because of a cancellation," Wes told her.
"Okay then, book that date," Toffee said, hoping she was making the right choice.
"I will phone him in a second," Wes said as he filled out the information needed for the vacation.
"Is your mom still coming?" Toffee asked.
"She said she will fly in the week before the wedding to help out with everything," Wes told her. "What about your parents? We have never talked about them before."
"I was adopted, and my parents died when I was eighteen. I never knew my real parents," Toffee told him, thinking about the parents that raised her. She missed them.
"Have you ever looked for your real parents?"
"No. I guess they couldn't handle everything that comes with a child, so they decided to give me away to a better home."
Wes took her hands. "I know a guy who works for an adoption agency, I could give him a call and see what he comes up with?"
Toffee looked at Wes. She had not thought about finding her real parents before, as she had never needed them. However, now the option was placed in front of her, she felt a strange yearning to know then. "Okay," she said. "Call him."
"I will do it after I book our wedding. He is normally very good with these things, and he should have something fast," Wes told her as he picked up the phone and called the church.
Roz Tillville had arrived at Angel Blackgreen's office early. She had wanted to sort out some things in her new office upstairs before she went in for her session. Angel opened the door to her office, and let Roz in. "How have things been?" Angel asked as they sat down.
"Good," Roz smiled. "Work is great, the house is going up fast."
"What about sleep? Are you getting more rest?" Angel asked, making a note of Roz's current mood.
"Yes. Last night I slept really well, without pills," Roz said. "I couldn't believe that I had slept so well, when I woke up I felt rested for once."
"That's good news. How is life in general?"
Roz smiled. "Well, I was doing some research online for the house, I needed to find a good builder that was able to craft stone stairs and I received an email. It was from this guy, who had mixed up the address and the email came to me and not the
his friend. Well I replied and we got to talking. I know that it's only the internet, but it was the first time I was interested in another man after Chris," Roz told her.
"Online or not, these feelings are good. It is showing you are ready to move on with your life and maybe start dating again?" Angel told her.
Roz smiled. "I think I am. This guy, he is sweet and so caring. We have been talking for a while now. He lives in Boston but is coming into the Kingdom soon, for a job interview. I am thinking of meeting up with him," Roz told Angel who looked worried.
"You need to make sure this man is who he is saying he is. If you decide to meet him, take someone with you, they can sit at the next table to something. At least you will have someone there incase things go wrong," she suggested.
"Yeah, I guess I could ask Toffee to come along or something," Roz said, thinking about him.
"Well, let me know how things go with this man, it will be great for you to meet someone new," Angel told her.
The session last a whole hour, and they talked about Chris and her grief. Roz was finally doing well again, and had sorted out her life. Angel hoped that their sessions would decrease, as she felt Roz would soon be able to handle life on her own again.
