For many people, life sometimes gets tough and they do thing they will later regret. When a situation gets out of control, we get pushed over the edge. In a typical surburban household, the family have arguments and fights, but are able to talk about thier differences, and solve the problem. Well, in the Kingdom, the residents are not the average families. Most deal with things, using drastic measures. In the Kingdom, they hide their mistakes behind smiles and pleasantries. The truth however, will always come back to haunt the guilty ones. Welcome to the Tragic Kingdom.....
Looking out at her garden, Ming Stonewalk reflected on what she had done. It had all got out of control, and she had finally lost it. She tried to cover it up, changing herself so she could start a new life. Yet it didn't matter. She still felt the guilt that was eating away at her. She couldn't take it back, couldn't change what she had done. Yet she wanted to, a silly request that will never be for filled.
As she watched birds hop around her garden, she wondered if it would ever be over. Would she be able to move on? She hoped so, but part of her knew that what she had done would haunt her for a long time yet.
Paradise comes at a price. Sophie Snowstep knew this more and more everyday. Sitting by her husband, Noah, she wondered if it she had been right in giving up her career as an actress and model. She loved her work, and raising Steve had been the best time in her life. Yet now, with him grown up, she was left with nothing. She wanted more, a new life for herself. She loved her family, but there must be a project she could get into. She needed something, anything.
"Are you going in the pool?" Noah asked, seeming to be half asleep himself.
Sophie snapped out of her trance, looked at the clear water, and shook her head. "I think I'll just go inside."
He watched her leave, and wondered what he had said to make her so cold with him.
With a new baby on the way, Lucy and Roger Rubyshine needed to plan. Yet, with their busy social calendar, it seemed as though that task would take longer than it had done with their past two kids.
Roger had been talking to Lucy about a party they were going to host, but her thoughts were elsewhere. "...and I think we should have prawn and not crab this time...."
She drifted in and out of the chat, trying to make sense of it but giving up most of the time. Instead, she felt herself dream of a child in waiting, a child growing inside her as she stood there. It was a wonderful feeling. She just wished Roger would shut up about the party and focus on the little one inside her belly. She knew it would, eventually.
