Dawn Sundale, Sophie Snowstep, Toffee Waterday and Angel Blackgreen had arranged to meet for a late lunch. Each one of the women as not seen each other for a long time, and though it was time to get together. The group was smaller than normal, as Lucy Rubyshine was pregnant, and not in the mood for going out and Suzzie Swift, was murdered. The girls grabbed a table and ordered their meal. The convocation soon turned to the things that had happened to them. "Toffee," Dawn said as she looked over at her. "Are you okay?"
"Oh, yes. I guess," Toffee said as she looked up startled. "How are you coping sweetie?" Angel asked, holding her hand. "I am okay. I have to get on with it," Toffee said. "I have made my mind up about what to do next. I am going to divorce Peter." "Oh," Sophie said. "Honey, are you sure," Toffee stared into her lap. "Yes. He hurt me and I can't forgive him. Its for the best in the long run." "You know we will support you no matter what," Dawn reminded her. "Thanks," Toffee said. "I think I need some air." Toffee walked over to the door, leaving the girls to talk about the murder.
As Toffee left the cafe, she ran into a face she knew. "Hey Toffee," he said. "Hey, erm...." Toffee drew a blank. "Wes," he said with a chuckle. "I'm sorry. It was on the tip of my tongue," she said. "Its okay. How have you been?" he asked. "Fine. Listen, I am having lunch with friends, so I can't stop," she told him. "Thats okay, but before you go, did I remember you telling me you were looking for work?" Wes asked. "Well, I could do with a job."
"Well my office is looking for new staff, I can set up an interview for you this afternoon if you want," he kindly offered. "Wow, thanks. Sure, here is my number, I hope to hear from them," she said, happy once again. "See you around then," Wes said as he walked off.
The girls had finished their lunch, and were making their way outside when Sophie's cell phone started to ring. "I can't believe I spilled water all over myself," she said as she took out her cell. "Hello?" "Is this Mrs. Snowstep?" a voice said. "Yes," Sophie said, lowering her voice. "Mrs. Snowstep, I am a paramedic who took your son to hospital today. He was wounded in school. We have taken him to the hospital and he is doing fine, but you should come down here as soon as you can," he said. "Oh, I will be there soon," she said, shocked at what she had just heard.
Sophie and Noah Snowstep arrived at the hospital an hour after the phone call. Sophie had been so dazed that she didn't realize what she had been told until she got home and changed. Noah picked her up and took her to the hospital. "Mr and Mrs. Snowstep, I am doctor Herman and I have been treating you son. I have good news, he is doing fine, and is sleeping at the moment," he told them. "Thank God," Noah said. "Do you know when he will be able to come home?" "Not yet, I am sorry," Doctor Herman said. "What happened to him?" Sophie asked.
"Your son was shot Mrs. Snowstep. We removed the bullet and there were no complications. He will be just fine," he told her. "I will be back to see him later." "Thank you doctor," Noah said as he left. "Sophie, can we chat outside." Sophie got up. "Sure."
