'Crazy, but thats how it goes'. This line from Crazy Train, by Ozzy Osbourne couldn't be more true from the residents of the Kingdom. Their lives are crazy, hectic and sometimes dangerous. We all want to believe that we are safe, we work, come home to a family, and feel happy that nothing can touch this. However, deep down inside, we all know that life isn't perfect, and that one day, something will happen to break the shell of our happy lives, and bring us crashing down to earth with a huge, and loud, bump. Whether we choose to believe this or not, in the bigger picture, doesn't really matter. If we worry about that, we will forever be unhappy. As long as we are in our little shell, we are safe.....right? We are happy...right? Nothing can go wrong.....right? Welcome to the Tragic Kingdom.....
Roz Tillville stood in front of a church full of her friends and family, talking about her deceased husband Chris. This day, was the hardest day she had ever been through, and her only thought was of getting home to be alone. She wasn't happy with other, and she wanted to get away from the Kingdom, and start again. "Chris was the only man I have ever loved. He was my first boyfriend in high school, and I have never wanted anyone else. The first time I saw him, I knew it was love. He was sitting on a bench outside the school, eating an apple. I walked passed, and he just stood up, held my hand and told me as soon as he saw me, he knew that we were meant to be together. We dated, and married. I will never love anyone else, I know that. He was
my love, he was my everything. I lived for him, and it is so hard to be without him. I miss him so much, and I just want to be with him," Roz spoke these words while trying to hold back the tears that filled her eyes. "Thank you all for coming today. It would have meant a lot to Chris to see he was loved by so many." Roz held her hand over her mouth, and walked outside to be alone.
Dawn Sundale pulled up outside the Kingdom's school building just after nine. Dawn had the task of taking care of Nathan while Holly was in school, and today Dawn didn't feel in the mother mood. "Where did Sam go?" Poppy asked. Dawn turned to look at her. "I don't know. I guess she went to see her grandparents, but I can't get in touch with them. I will try again later, and if she is not there, I guess I will need to call the police to look into it." Dawn paused, thinking of the harsh words Sam had spat at her. "I think she will be with her grandparents. They must be taking her places to cheer her up." "Okay," Poppy said, losing interest in her own question. "How are you Holly?" Dawn asked.
Dawn pulled into her garage, and parked the car in its usual spot. She though for a second, about Sam. Pulling out her cell, she dialed Sam's number, and waited for her to answer. Nothing. Where is she?Dawn thought. She decided to dial another number. Finally, she got an answer. "Hello?" a voice asked. "This is Dawn Sundale, I was talking care of Sam. I was wondering if she came to your house?" Dawn said to Sam's grandfather. "She called and told us she was on her way here. I believe she bought a plane ticket and is on her way," he told her. "Oh...Thank goodness. I was worried as she didn't tell me. Thanks for taking her." "No no. Thank you for having her until we came home."
"I am fine. I need to go back to school. I need to get my life back together, like it was before Nathan," Holly told her. "Okay, do you want my to pick you up?" "No, we will get the bus, right Poppy?" Holly asked. "Yep!" Poppy said, happily. "Bye," Dawn said as she watched her children walk away.
"Thats fine," Dawn said, although she didn't mean it. "Take care." Dawn put her cell away, and got out of the car, taking Nathan with her.
Noah Snowstep picked up the phone in the hall, and said hello to the person on the other end. "Mr. Snowstep. This is Gary Ford, I am a firefighter. Today, you office caught fire, and I am sorry to tell you that there is extensive damage. I am afraid we had to declare it as unsafe, and we believe it should be demolished," he told a shocked Noah. "How did this happen?" Noah asked. "Faulty wiring, we believe," Gary told him. "I will come down later and look at the place, and then you can do whatever you want. Flatten the place, but let me look at it first," Noah told him. "Yes Mr. Snowstep, goodbye," Gary said, hanging up.
"Dad," Noah said as he walked into the kitchen. "Do you want some breakfast?" Monty asked. "No, dad listen. The office has burned down," Noah told him, not wanting to draw it out. "What?" Monty asked, turning round. "The place has been declared unsafe, and is going to have to be demolished. I am sorry dad," Noah said, patting his father on the arm. "Well, we have insurance," Monty said, forcing a smile. "Thats true. Listen, I will sort out the claim, and then get working on finding a new office for us," Noah told him. "Fine, I will miss that place," Monty said. "Yeah dad, me too," Noah said, hugging his father.
